Setting up a studio
The configuration decisions to make before you invite your first creator.
Decide these five things before adding people. Changing them later is possible, but it means renegotiating with your team.
1. Timezone and reporting currency
Both are set in onboarding. Timezone defines when a day starts for reporting; currency defines what every total is expressed in. Pick the ones your payouts actually use.
2. Schedule model
Fixed slots, free requests, or both. Studios with rooms and rotations usually want slots; distributed teams usually want requests.
3. Split model
Decide the revenue split and which expenses, if any, are deducted before it. Write it down and make it match what the platform calculates.
4. Roles
Map real jobs to roles. Keep owners and admins few, and require two-factor authentication for anyone with financial authority.
5. Payout rhythm
Weekly, biweekly or monthly batches. Consistency matters more than frequency: creators judge a studio by whether payouts are predictable.
Once these are set, follow the first-week checklist.
